Complete server installation guide ยท Updated 16 October 2026
Before installing the server
This guide explains the normal deployment process for The FiveM Shop complete open source Qbox server. Always follow the README supplied with your order when a package-specific filename or setting differs from the examples below.
The server is delivered as a configured pack rather than an empty framework. Avoid renaming resources, replacing the Qbox core or installing a second inventory before completing the first clean test.
Qbox FiveM server requirements
- A supported Windows or Linux server with enough storage and memory for your intended player count.
- A current FiveM server artifact and a valid Cfx.re server license key.
- MySQL or MariaDB with permission to create and update the server database.
- txAdmin or direct console access to start the server and read errors.
- A staging copy or full backup before changing a live server.
Create a dedicated database user. Do not expose the database publicly or place a root database password in screenshots, support messages or public repositories.
Install the complete FiveM server pack
- Download a current FiveM server artifact for your operating system.
- Create a clean server directory and a separate
server-datadirectory. - Extract the purchased server pack into the location described by its README.
- Confirm
server.cfg, the resources directory and the supplied SQL file are present. - Keep the supplied resource names and folder grouping unchanged for the first launch.
- Back up the untouched download before editing local configuration values.
Create and import the SQL database
- Create an empty database using a clear name such as
fivem_qbox. - Create a dedicated database user and grant it access only to that database.
- Import the SQL file included with the server pack through phpMyAdmin, Adminer or the MySQL command line.
- Confirm the import completes without errors before starting FiveM.
mysql -u YOUR_DATABASE_USER -p fivem_qbox < supplied-server.sql
The supplied SQL filename may differ. Use the actual file delivered with your order.
Configure server.cfg
Set your own license, database credentials and public server information. Never publish the real values.
endpoint_add_tcp "0.0.0.0:30120"
endpoint_add_udp "0.0.0.0:30120"
sv_hostname "Your FiveM Server Name"
sets sv_projectName "Your Roleplay Community"
sv_maxclients 48
sv_licenseKey "YOUR_CFX_LICENSE_KEY"
set mysql_connection_string "mysql://USER:[email protected]/fivem_qbox?charset=utf8mb4"
Review identifiers, ACE permissions, server locale, voice settings and any API keys included in the configuration. Replace examples without removing required quotation marks.
Preserve the resource start order
The supplied server.cfg should already place database and shared libraries before Qbox and custom gameplay resources. The simplified example below shows the dependency pattern, not a replacement for the delivered configuration:
ensure oxmysql
ensure ox_lib
ensure qbx_core
# Keep the supplied grouped resources and order below the core.
ensure [qbx]
ensure [standalone]
ensure [voice]
ensure [maps]
Do not add a second framework core, inventory, phone or database wrapper during the first setup. Establish a working baseline before introducing another resource.
First start and console checks
- Start the server through txAdmin or the included launch method.
- Watch the complete startup log instead of closing the console after the first warning.
- Resolve missing dependencies and SQL errors from the first resource that fails.
- Join with a test account and confirm character creation and persistence.
- Restart once more and verify saved characters, vehicles, inventory and jobs remain available.
Pre-launch testing checklist
- Create and reconnect to a character.
- Test inventory item use, shops, stashes and vehicle storage.
- Test civilian, police and emergency job permissions.
- Purchase, finance, store and retrieve a vehicle.
- Check phone apps, calls, messages, banking and garages.
- Test the included criminal activities and drug systems with two players.
- Review server console errors and resource timing before inviting the public.
- Confirm administrator permissions are not granted to normal players.
Install the Friday server updates
- Back up the current resources, server.cfg and database.
- Read the update notes and identify replaced files, new resources and SQL migrations.
- Compare configuration files instead of blindly overwriting your server name, permissions or API keys.
- Apply database migrations once and record that they were completed.
- Test the updated copy on staging with at least two players.
- Deploy the verified update and perform a full restart.
Customers can watch the latest FiveM server update video and contact Lighthouse when they need clarification.
Common setup problems
- Database connection failed: check the host, port, database name, user permissions and special characters in the connection string.
- Resource not found: remove accidental nested folders and confirm
fxmanifest.luais directly inside the resource folder. - Missing export or dependency: restore the supplied start order and find the first resource error in the console.
- Server does not appear publicly: verify the license key, endpoint port, firewall and host networking.
- Character or vehicle data disappears: inspect SQL errors and confirm the server is connected to the database you imported.
- Update removed settings: restore the backup and merge configuration changes rather than replacing the complete live folder.
